Miley Cyrus has revealed that she was more bothered about crying than getting naked for her controversial Wrecking Ball video.
The singer straddles a demolition tool while completely nude in the footage but it was the scenes where she had to get emotional that concerned her.
‘For me, nudity has never been something that I've ever tripped about,' says Miley, 20.
‘I don't really see it the way everyone else sees it.
‘I'd rather be naked in front of people than cry in front of people because I don't like showing weakness and that shows a lot of, like, vulnerabilities.
‘It was harder to be in that, like, emotional state in front of so many people on set rather than it just be about being naked.
‘I really did feel the way that you see me [in the close ups]. I wanted people to look into my eyes. You can't even fake that. It was really intense.'
Miley didn't hold back in the clip and is infamously seen licking a sledgehammer, though she says the suggestive moment started out as just a joke.
‘With the sledgehammer... I was doing it just, like, kidding, because Terry [Richardson, the director] was over there and he was, like, "Look like you're in love with it, you're really sad!"' Miley says in a VEVO interview.
‘I just started kissing it. I didn't even know why. He was, like, "Keep doing it! Keep doing it! Looks like you really are in love with this thing!" and then they started yelling at me.
‘They were, like, "You can't lick that thing! There's paint!" And, I'm like, I don't care, I think this is actually going to be dope.'
