  • Music industry insiders are predicting Gabz Gardiner's new single Lighters (The One) will be a big hit
From the moment Simon Cowell told Gabz Gardiner: 'I think we're looking at a future pop star,' after her mind-blowing Britain's Got Talent audition, it was obvious the 14-year-old was destined to hit the charts.

What no one could have predicted is that she'd be transformed into a star just weeks after competing in the hit ITV1 talent show's live final.

But BGT boss Simon rightly decided her original song Lighters (The One) was so damn good it had to be released as a single by his record company Syco as soon as humanly possible.

Amazingly, Gabz wrote the insanely catchy song over two nights last November, having no idea that she'd end up performing it to millions.

'It took a few hours,' she explains.

'Then I invited my dad in to listen and he actually cried when he heard it for the first time.'

While her dad Noel's insisting she sticks to her studies, Gabz has become an instant celebrity at school.

'People who've never spoken to me before are suddenly coming over to me

'I've even had people asking for autographs.

'My friends are shocked.'

Lighters (The One) is out now on Sony Music.
