Mischa Barton has admitted that she still suffers from depression.
The OC star suffered a breakdown in 2009 and was sectioned under the US equivalent of the Mental Health Act, spending two weeks on a psychiatric ward.
In 2010 the actress opened up about her battle with depression and, even though she continues to fight the illness, she's feeling much stronger than in the past.
‘I think actors are complicated souls,' says Mischa, 27.
‘Everybody has different layers and deals with things in different ways. As you get older, things just calm down.
‘I'm probably one of the happiest people and my outlook in life is positive.'
Mischa, who now lives in London and is dating actor Sebastian Knapp, credits her friends with helping her cope through the bad times.
‘I've always had a great support network around me,' the actress says.
‘I've been really blessed with a lot of older figures in my life to turn to in a moment of need and that's really important.
‘People who've been there and done that and can relate to that pressure of having a career like that.
‘Having people who love you is more important than anything, whether the public is busy loving you or not at that moment.
‘I have stayed relatively strong because I've got those great people.'
