Girls Aloud have announced that they've split up after coming to the end of their Ten reunion tour.

The girls, who reunited for the tour after three years apart, performed their final show in Liverpool last night and posted the announcement on Twitter shortly after coming off stage.

Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!!' a statement on the band's Twitter page read.

This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade.

It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!!

Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots.'

Before the split was announced Cheryl Cole thanked the fans for their support over the past decade.

To the people that haven't been able to make it, for what ever reason, we feel your support regardless and have done for 10 yrs..' Tweeted Cheryl, 29.

To the people that have been to almost as many shows as we have lol let's make this a celebration of the past 10 years'

Cheryl and the girls - Kimberley Walsh, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Nadine Coyle - were put together on reality TV show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002.
