Russell Brand reached out to Katy Perry on her 28th birthday last month.
The comic, 37, showed his ex-wife he still cares by buying her a gold cuff and a hand-made cushion, which is designed for use while meditating.
'Even though they've broken up, Russell wanted to send Katy something,' a source tells The Sun.
'He thought it would be nice to let her know he's thinking of her.'
Russell's mum Barbara also wanted to give her former daughter-in-law a gift and arranged for the delivery of a bunch of flowers and a card.
It seems Katy had a brilliant day on 25 October - she told her Twitter followers that she was having lunch with Michelle Obama after singing for Barack Obama the evening before.
'So tonight was a great night!' Tweeted Katy following her performance.
'The PRESIDENT gave grandma and I unforgettable shout outs & now I am officially 28! Best. birthday. ever.'
