Chris Brown tests positive for marijuana while on probation for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna
Chris Brown tested positive for marijuana during a recent drugs screening, it was revealed in court reports yesterday.
The singer - who was attending a probation progress hearing yesterday - failed the test three months ago in Virginia, where he was doing community service for assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.
According to Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Patricia Schnegg, Chris, 23, told his probation officer he'd taken the drug in California, where he has a medical marijuana prescription.
However, he was tested in Virginia, where marijuana is illegal whether it's prescribed or not.
Judge Schnegg let Chris off because compulsory drug tests are not a condition of his probation - but gave him a stark warning to observe all laws in future.
'You are not an ordinary person who can sit in your living room and do whatever you want to do,' she said.
'More importantly, a lot of people look up to you, a lot of kids. What you do and what you say impacts a lot of people.'
Rihanna had sent Chris a message of support over Twitter ahead of his probation progress report yesterday.
'@chrisbrown I'm praying for you and wishing u the best today!' she Tweeted.
Chris replied: 'thank u so much.'
