Colombian songstress Shakira has announced on her website that she's expecting her first child.
The singer, full name Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, has been dating Spanish footballer Gerard Pique since early 2011.
'As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby,' writes the 35-year-old.
Shakira is cutting back on work commitments to concentrate on having a healthy pregnancy.
'At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days,' she adds.
'I'd like to thank my fans for their constant love and understanding. Big kiss!'
