Geri Halliwell and Russell Brand seemed such an unlikely couple from the start.
After Russell, 37, flaunted his liaison with drama student Aimee Levoir, it was clear Ginger Spice, 40, had no chance of taming the bad boy.
The public humiliation has been tough for heartbroken Geri - especially as she'd hit the fast-forward button on their romance and had secretly been planning a wedding!
Geri, we can reveal, had even set her team the task of finding out about all things wedding-related in case Russell popped the question!
A source close to Geri says: 'She asked if his extravagant wedding in India to Katy Perry was his idea.
'It was her way of finding out that he'd prefer a more low-key British do if he ever remarried.'
Although her wedding plans sound extreme, Geri's no stranger to whirlwind engagements - in December 2008 she got engaged to businessman Fabrizio Politi after just two months.
But at least this time she has a back-up plan: her ex Henry Beckwith.
They split in August 2011 after two years together, but have stayed friends.
Our source adds: 'If there's no chance with Russell, Henry's always there for her.
'He told her to be careful - he never believed Russell was after anything serious.'
