Rumours about Ryan Gosling starring in 50 Shades Of Grey first surfaced months ago
The husband of Fifty Shades Of Grey author EL James has dropped a strong hint that Ryan Gosling will take the lead role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the erotic novel.

Niall Leonard says that 'last he heard' Ryan, 31, was in the frame to play the manipulative billionaire - but denies that the character is based on himself.

'I'm glad I'm not him because he's actually damaged,' says Niall.

'I wouldn't have liked to go through what he went through.'

Fifty Shades Of Grey has become the fastest-selling paperback of all time since its release in June 2011, overtaking the Harry Potter series.

Niall insists he isn't worried about his wife - real name Erika Leonard - dreaming up saucy scenarios involving BDSM (Bondage, Discipline, Sadism and Masochism).

'Everybody has got fantasy figures and daydreams. Everybody has,' Niall tells The Times Magazine.

'Anybody who hasn't got any fantasy or imagination - I would pity them, really. If people are stupid enough to mix up a fantasy with reality...'
