But he finally relented after a week and began to text her back.
However, friends say Rob, 26 - who previously said he 'never understood why people cheat' - is still unsure whether to give Kristen, 22, a second chance.
The heartthrob emerged from hiding for the first time on 4 August when three of his English pals flew out to see him.
They were spotted watching local band The Lonely Wild at country-and-western bar The Deer Lodge near Ojai, then returned on the Saturday.
A worker there says: 'Rob came in with friends.
'There was a party here already and they hung out with them. He seemed happy.'
Since the scandal, Kristen's been at a friend's house, 'sobbing' and 'barely eating'.
Our source says: 'She's starting to look really emaciated.'
