Russell Brand: I asked David Beckham about a painkilling jab but he reckons I need a massage
The comedian met David during rehearsals at the old Ford plant in east London and got chatting to the footballer about the legal painkiller cortisone.
‘I was speaking to David Beckham, who was there with his lovely wife Victoria,' says Russell, 37.
‘I was asking him about pain relief for a bad back. I've got this pain in my lower back and I asked him if he had one of those injections for the pain when he was playing.
‘He said all I needed was a massage, but he wasn't exactly offering.'
Former drug addict Russell, who sang The Beatles' hit I Am The Walrus during the show, found it ironic that he used to try to score drugs in Dagenham, the area of the rehearsal site.
‘It was a bit of a moment actually, doing the Olympics rehearsals down at the old Ford plant,' Russell tells The Sun.
‘It doesn't seem like all that long ago I was knocking about down there looking for mischief.'
