One Direction are rumoured to be playing at the Olympics Opening Ceremony
The One Direction boys would have been a big hit on stage at the Olympics Opening Ceremony, according to Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley.
The singer thinks 1D should have closed the show, rather than Sir Paul McCartney.
'If I'm honest I would have liked a really young band to have closed it,' Tony, 52, told Absolute Radio.
'If you've got Sir Steve Redgrave handing over the torch to the youngsters, it would have been nice to have had One Direction. They're our biggest export at the moment, pure pop.
'One Direction with the Royal Philharmonic, with about 100 singers in a choir, behind them.'
It looks like Tony may get to see One Direction perform at the Olympics Closing Ceremony, though - they've been tipped to play alongside the Spice Girls and Ed Sheeran.
While this rumour hasn't been confirmed, all five boys have been Tweeting about how much they're enjoying the Games.
Zayn Malik, 19, wrote over the weekend: 'Afternoon every1, watching Olympic canoeing, pretty cool :) x.'
While Niall Horan, 18, added on Wednesday: 'Nearly had a tear in my eye watchin @johnJoeNevin come into the ring! Just a different class ! #proudtobeirish , had my irish flag on me.'
