US band Boyce Avenue have spent £20,000 on personalised guitars for One Direction - though Niall Horan, 18, is the only member who knows how to strum.
The soft-rock group splashed out on the pricey presents to show their appreciation at being booked as a warm-up act for the boys' UK tour earlier this year.
'The 1D boys were really grateful but it was a bit of a pointless present as only Niall can play,' reveals a source.
But now the rest of the lads are determined to get to grips with their new instruments.
'Harry, Liam, Zayn and Louis are desperately trying to learn because it was a kind gift,' the source tells The Sun.
'Boyce Avenue got each guitar engraved with a personal message so the boys would remember the tour.'
