Kate Middleton married Prince William in April 2011

Kate Middleton will have to curtsy to several other women in the Royal Family when Prince William isn't with her, according to updated protocols approved by the Queen.

A document reported to have been circulated privately amongst the royals stipulates that Kate, 30, comes second to 'blood princesses' because she's a former commoner.

This includes Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, as well as Wills' aunt Princess Anne.

The rules, which have been changed to include Kate after her wedding to William last April, state that she'll have to bow down to the blue-blooded women in both public and private.

'Updating the Order of Precedence has been a simple matter of following the precedent set when the Prince of Wales married Camilla Parker Bowles,' a courtier tells the Sunday Telegraph.

However, as the wife of William, 30 - who is second in line to the throne - some members of the Royal Family will have to curtsy to Kate.

Prince Edward's wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex must bow to the Duchess whether Wills is with her or not.
