Alexandra Burke: I wanted to adopt glue-sniffing Ugandan slum boy
'My Brian. I wanted to adopt him,' Alex, 23, tells Now's Dan Wootton. 'He was living on the streets of Kampala, sniffing glue and petrol and stuff like that just to keep warm.
'He had to sleep in the slums, which is the most horrible experience. He lied about his age and told me he was 14 but I know for a fact he was only 10.
'They don't want people to realise how young they are.'
It was Brian's Manchester United hat that caught Alex's eye.
She played football with him and the connection was so strong that The X Factor 2008 winner wanted to bring the youngster - who suffers from bad eczema - back to the UK.
'Absolutely. I really wanted to,' she says. 'God, I loved him. He's so cute.
'His family just let him go because they thought he had a disease they might catch. In the end, though, his family wanted him back so I was told I couldn't adopt him.
'But I know its about more than one child - the money raised by Sport Relief helps so many kids at risk, which is so important.'
