After Now revealed today that Cheryl Cole had a secret romance with MC Harvey, the former lovebirds have been battling it out on Twitter.

'Was this "relationship" happening in your head @harveyofficial ?! Are you smoking something ?..' Tweeted Cheryl, 28, after reading our interview with the So Solid Crew rapper, 32, about their 2010 romance.

'.. @harveyofficial I think I've met you once maybe twice at public events and With your wife !! #shitjustgetsweirder'

But Harvey hit back right away.

'Do you actually want me to tweet some of the messages you emailed me @cherylcole pipe down and stop playing the saint in front of your fans,' he responded.

'I had your back @cherylcole untill you sent that shit dissapointed in you if the public seen these emails you would end up with egg on your face ...

'And let's get this straight @cherylcole I don't need no hype of you! I'd rather go broke and work in sainsburys than talk about your personal shit.'

The So Solid Crew rapper - real name Michael Harvey Jr - was secretly seeing Cheryl when the world believed she was loved-up with American dancer Derek Hough.

'We've known each other for years. But then [after Cheryl split with Ashley] we started confiding in each other,' he explains in our exclusive interview.

'A lot of it was like: "We can't trust anyone out there, so we're just gonna trust each other."'

Now it seems their slanging match has calmed down.

'This is not a twitter beef I still have massive respect for @cherylcole but you shouldn't of tweeted that knowing we both have personal messages to eachother #silenceinthecourt,' Tweets MC.

'And people please stop tweeting abuse to either of us this is not a war so calm down and enjoy life #toomuchhype.

'Its funny how the hype has calmed down since I mentioned the emails. Where I come from we don't snitch I'd rather die than sell my soul #simples.'

But Cheryl's band mate Nicola Roberts tells him: 'Emails..?? I think someone's been having you on mate...'
