Kate Middleton cries during War Horse London premiere with Prince William

The Duchess of Cambridge is moved by the sad film

Kate Middleton wore a stunning Temperley lace gown to the War Horse premiere

Sensitive Kate Middleton couldn't hold back the tears while watching Steven Spielberg blockbuster War Horse at the film's premiere this week.

Kate, who turned 30 yesterday, was handed a tissue by the director's wife Kate Capshaw as she sobbed during the flick about young Albert Narracott's beloved horse Joey, who is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France in WW1.

'I was sitting next to her and all I know is at one point my wife, who was sitting to my right, right in front of my face she passed a Kleenex,' says Steven, 65.

'I saw the Kleenex go across my face, arrive and stop but I didn't want to intrude on her experience watching War Horse so I never glanced over.'

Kate attended the star-studded event at the Odeon Leicester Square with husband Prince William, 29, alongside actors Emily Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch.

The night was in aid of The Foundation Of Prince William And Harry, which supports the armed forces. 

'I have had the honour of attending a number of royal premieres throughout the 70s, 80s and 90s, but it was so wonderful being with the royal future of England,' Steven tells The Sun.

'Both William and Catherine are extremely popular in America.

'They can always grab the headlines away from Hollywood and Barack Obama.'
