Dougie Poynter has made no secret of his admiration for Prince William's wife Kate Middleton.

The cheeky McFly guitarist and I'm A Celebrity winner attended The Sun's Military awards with band mate Harry Judd, 25, yesterday, and was pleased he got the chance to see Kate, 29, in her elegant black velvet designer dress.  

'The royal babe was at the military awards last night, as is tradition. So so elegant, so lovely, so hot in the face,' Tweets Dougie, 24.

Despite his crush on the Duchess of Cambridge, Dougie is actually totally smitten with his 21-year-old girlfriend Lara Carew-Jones.

He recently even revealed that he plans to stay with artist Lara forever.

'She's such an awesome chick, I'd be mental not to marry her,' says Dougie.

'I'm going to get Christmas out of the way before I do anything.'
