Manchester Crown Court has been told how Wayne and Coleen Rooney were asked to pay £5,000 for the return of a camera containing private family snaps.
Coleen, 25, reported the device - which had photos of the couple's son Kai on it as well as other private pics - as missing after she attended a Black Eyed Peas concert in May 2010.
Lee Platt, 28, of Blackley, Manchester, Jennifer Green, 25, of Blackley and Steven Malcolm, 42, of Chorlton on Medlock, Manchester, are on trial for allegedly attempting to blackmail the Rooneys into buying the pictures back.
‘It would have been obvious to anyone that the content of the memory card and the images on it were personal family photographs of the Rooney family,' says prosecutor Deborah Gould, who told jurors the accused had 'sought by unlawful means to make money of the situation'.
‘Whether someone took it from her or found it does not matter.'
Lee Platt has pleaded guilty to blackmail and handling stolen goods.
Jennifer Green and Steven Malcom deny both charges.
The trial continues.
