Robert Pattinson: I didn't have a girlfriend until I was 18

Robert Pattinson confesses he was never in the cool gang

Twilight star Robert Pattinson, 25, has thousands of fans worldwide who'd like to be bitten by vampire Edward Cullen.

But the hot actor hasn't always been a babe magnet.

‘I was a bit of a loner at school,' admits Rob.

‘My first kiss was when I was 12, but I didn't have a girlfriend until I was 18.

'I was a lunch monitor and used to take everyone's chips. I wasn't with the cool gang or the uncool one - I was transitional.'

It was only in 2001, when Rob was 14, that his dad set the ball to stardom rolling - by paying him to join a drama club.

‘My dad and I were in a restaurant one day and noticed this group of pretty girls,' says Rob, whose earliest ambition was to be ‘a rapper'.

‘The girls said they'd been to the local acting school.

'I never did any acting at school - I was quite shy - but after that day my dad nagged me about attending.

'He said he'd pay me, which is pretty strange, but I went.'
