Kim Kardashian's mum has revealed that the socialite will not return her $2 million wedding ring to Kris Humphries following their split earlier this week.

Kris Jenner, 55, says the 20.5-carat diamond band (worth £1.2m) was a present and should remain that way.

'It's a gift - you keep a gift,' she told US show Good Morning America. 'I hate an Indian giver.'

The defiant declaration comes as Kim, 31, has cut short a promotional trip to Australia to return to LA to deal with the fallout from the break-up with basketball player Kris, 26.

The reality star headed to Oz with younger sister Khloe, 27, and her husband Lamar Odom, 31, earlier this week to promote her Kardashian Kollection handbag line.

Despite telling an Aussie TV show that she 'really wanted to stick with my commitment to come out here', she's dropped out of an event for Swisse Vitamins that was scheduled for tomorrow.

'I am very disappointed that I am unable to attend the Swisse marquee, but I hope to come back and work with the Swisse team at another point in time,' she tells the Herald Sun.

Kim filed for divorce on Monday, citing 'irreconcilable differences'.
