Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z's daughter is believed to have been born on Saturday night.

There has been no official announcement but Beyoncé is reported to have given birth to a little girl named Blue Ivy Carter.

Baby Blue Ivy is said to have been delivered by Caesarean section at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, with Jay-Z, 42 - real name Shawn Carter - at his wife's bedside.

Before Christmas, unconfirmed reports also suggested the couple's first child, originally thought to be due in February, was about to arrive - but these were proved false.

Rihanna is delighted at the good news, though, and has Tweeted: 'Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.'

Cheryl Cole has also sent her good wishes: Congratulations to Beyonce and Jay on the birth of
their first child.. Welcome to the world Blue Ivy !'

Beyoncé, when pregnant, admitted expecting had heightened and distorted her sense of smell.

'If it smells bad, I smell it,' Beyoncé, 30, told Entertainment Tonight.

'My husband's fragrance is one that I've always loved - but I hate it right now.'
