A packed courthouse was shown a picture of Michael Jackson, apparently dead in hospital, on the opening day of Dr Conrad Murray's trial yesterday.
The shocking photo shows the King of Pop on a trolley wearing a surgical gown, with a piece of tape or tubing over his face and his eyes closed.
Dr Murray, 58, is charged with involuntary manslaughter, with deputy district attorney David Walgren claiming his 'acts and omissions' directly resulted in Michael's early death.
'The evidence will show that Michael Jackson literally put his life in the hands of Conrad Murray,' attorney Walgren told the LA court.
'Michael Jackson trusted his life to the medical skills of Dr Conrad Murray. The evidence will show that misplaced trust had far too high a price to pay.
'It cost Michael Jackson his life.'
Attorney Walgren also claimed the singer showed signs of poor health when he turned up for rehearsals for his upcoming This Is It tour on 19 June - 6 days before his passing.
'He was not in good shape, he was not in good shape at all,' the jurors were told, reports the Daily Mirror.
'He had chills, he was trembling... he was rambling.'
Dr Murray has pleaded not guilty.
