Amy Winehouse's boyfriend Reg Traviss faces rape allegation
Film director Reg Traviss will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court in Central London on 17 July to face rape charges.
Reg, 35, who dated Amy Winehouse for 2 years before her death on 23 July last year, was arrested in April after voluntarily attending a London police station for questioning about a rape allegation made in January.
'I have authorised the Met police to charge Reginald Traviss with two counts of rape,' states Rebecca Mundy, lawyer at the CPS London Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit.
"The alleged offences took place between 29 December, 2011 and 1 January 2012.
'The decision was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors.'
A friend of Reg's at the time of his arrest said: 'He completely denies the allegation.'
After Amy died at her home in Camden, North London, last year, Reg, who planned to marry the singer, told reporters: 'We have suffered a terrible untimely loss and want peace now.
'I have lost my darling who I loved very much.
'Amy's now my guardian angel. Heaven's a much richer, if not noisier, place with her in it.'
