Chris Evans has vowed never to drink alcohol again after a night spent with Prince Harry left him feeling 'just plain weird.'

The Radio 2 DJ went out with Wills' little brother after a day's charity work in Canary Wharf, and though it was 'nothing crazy', it was enough to prompt him to quit.

'It was a few hours of semi-civilised male merrymaking,' says Chris, 45.

'But I have never felt like I did the next day. Not hungover, just plain weird.

'I love life, but for a moment it became obvious life didn't love me.' 

Chris admits he's only twice gone more than a couple of days without alcohol and was famously fined by the BBC in the 90s for turning up to his shift on Radio 1 just 2 hours after a 17-hour pub crawl.

'It's been a long time coming - 45 years, five months and 17 days, to be precise,' he explains.

'This will come as a major shock to people who know me, and may even cause a few minor heart attacks where several restaurant and bar owners in the South East are concerned.

'I have been thinking about it for a good while now. And I simply have to do it.

'I want to know what I'm like completely sober.'
