BABY JOY! Melanie Brown gives birth to girl - but she wanted baby boy

Scary Spice Melanie Brown and husband Stephen Belafonte are celebrating the safe arrival of their first child together - a baby girl.

Mel, who's already mum to two daughters - Phoenix, 12, with ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar and Angel Iris, 4, with actor Eddie Murphy - Tweeted the news from LA this morning.

'Finally our baby arrives,Stephen nearly passed out,Phoenix screamed,I laughed so hard the baby popped out!!! She is just sooo amazing!!' Mel, 36, wrote.

Film producer Stephen is also dad to daughter Giselle, 6, and Mel admitted earlier this year that she was keen to add a male to their brood.

'I just want the baby to be healthy!' she said, 'but 'I'd like a boy!'
