Actor Robert Downey Jr will be a father for the second time

Susan Downey and Robert Downey Jr's family is set to grow

Robert Downey Jr and wife Susan Downey have revealed that they're expecting a baby together early next year.

The couple have been married since 2005 and the new arrival will be their first child together.

'Robert and Susan could not be more excited over this news,' says the actor's rep.

'They can't wait to welcome this new baby into their wonderful family.'

Robert, who's already dad to 17-year-old Indio by ex-wife Deborah Falconer, predicted last year that he'd have another child in 2012.

'I think I will be wrist-deep in doo-doo within 18 months,' Robert, now 46, told People while promoting his film Due Date.

'I'm calling it right here.'
