Kimberly Stewart announced her shock pregnancy in April

Kimberly Stewart has given birth to her first child - and Rod Stewart's first grandchild.

The 32-year-old safely delivered a little girl at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles on Sunday - with dad Rod, mum Alana Collins and stepmum Penny Lancaster all present during at the birth.

'My joy is indescribable,' Rod revealed in a statement to People magazine.

Kimberly's daughter - who was concevied during a brief relationship with Hollywood actor Benicio del Toro, 44 - weighed in at a healthy 8lb 9oz.

‘Benicio is the father and is very supportive,' the actor's spokesperson told America's Life & Style magazine when the pregnancy was announced.

‘Although they are not a couple, they are looking forward to the arrival of the baby.'
