DJ Chris Evans recovering after procedure to remove potentially deadly growths

Chris Evans has revealed that he had surgery after a bowel cancer scare earlier this year.

The Radio 2 DJ, whose dad died from the illness when Chris was 13, went for a colonoscopy and then had an operation to remove pre-cancerous growths. 

'As far as the procedure went, it was lights, camera, action and on we go with the show,' says Chris, 45.

'A couple of pesky potential future little problems were discovered and swiftly removed, but other than that I'm afraid you're stuck with me for a few years longer at least.'

Chris urges others to get themselves checked and praises his hospital staff.

'Usual story, everyone that works here should be paid a million pounds a minute,' he writes in his BBC blog. 'But of course they're not.

'The angels that gave me my paper underpants before, and made me one of the nicest cups of tea I've ever had afterwards, go by the names Lorraine and Bernie.'
