Alex Gerrard: I wouldn't let Steven name our child Eight after his shirt number

Model's comments unlikely to go down well with Victoria Beckham

Alex Gerrard is expecting her third child with husband Steven Gerrard

Alex Gerrard doesn't fancy following Victoria Beckham's lead and naming her baby after her hubby's football shirt number.

Old pal Posh is happy for her new daughter to be called Harper Seven, but Alex - whose Liverpool captain spouse, 31, has always played in the number eight shirt - isn't keen on the idea. 

'I must admit I was expecting the Beckhams to go a lot more girlie with their new baby's name,' she says.

'We're not superstitious at all so there isn't any number that is significant to us.

'But if Steven wanted to give his shirt number as a middle name to our new baby, I think I'd say no!'

Alex, 28, does approve of the name Harper, though.

'I actually like Harper,' she admits, 'it's a nice name and quite American sounding.'

Alex and Steven are expecting their third child later this year. 

They are already mum and dad to Lilly-Ella, 7, and Lexie, 5.
