Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo have been dating since 2006

Jessica Simpson's ex-husband Nick Lachey married MTV presenter Vanessa Minnillo on Friday.

The couple flew all 35 of their guests to a mystery tropical island location. 

'For us, this is just a stepping stone to do what we ultimately want and that's to start a family together,' Vanessa, 30, tells People.

Nick, who hosts The Sing-Off in America, announced the couple's engagement on Twitter in November.

'Hey all, if anyone's heard the rumors of my engagement, they are
absolutely true!' Nick, 37, wrote.

'Vanessa and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the
love.'
