Cheryl Cole's Girls Aloud bandmate Nicola Roberts launches solo music career
The redheaded fashionista has signed a record deal with Universal and her debut single Beat Of My Drum is released on 5 June.
'It's a fun record,' Nicola, 25, tells The Sun.
'It was important my first single was different to anything else around.
'I love that it's a song everyone can sing and dance along to.'
Nicola will be hoping her first solo effort is more successful than that of Girls Aloud's Nadine Coyle, 25, whose single Insatiable only reached No 26 in the UK chart.
'I feel so excited and nervous all at the same time,' Liverpudlian Nicola writes on her blog.
'Every time I think about what I'm about to do I get the biggest butterflies...
'For over a year, I've been in the studio writing my own songs and working towards making my own record.
'The time has come where I have to come out of my safe bubble that is the studio and share my music with you....
'Butterflies just got worse...'
