Jake Gyllenhaal asks that we all respect his alone time

Jake Gyllenhaal was caught off-guard on Friday when a photographer snapped him during a toilet break.

The Hollywood actor has kindly requested that fans and paps leave him to pee alone.

'I think it's an appropriate space to keep privacy,' Jake, 30, tells Entertainment Weekly. 'I hope that people wouldn't disagree with me on that.'

Jake was at the premiere for his new film Source Code at Texas's South By Southwest Festival when the pap struck.

After a heated exchange, the photographer deleted the pic. 

'I'm a firm believer in privacy in a bathroom, but that's just me I guess. I'm apparently amongst the minority,' Jake tells YNN.

'We live with our devices, my phone is in my pocket at the moment, and of course people are interested in taking pictures and stuff like that.

'I just think the bathroom isn't the best place.'
