Samia Smith and Will Thorpe are keeping quiet about their romance

Who needs to watch Coronation Street 
when its stars are having juicier love affairs than their characters?

Co-stars Samia Smith and Will Thorp, who play on-screen lovers Maria Connor and Chris Gray, last week came clean over their secret real-life romance - to the horror of their respective spouses.

While both Samia, 28, and Will, 33, insist their relationship didn't blossom until after they'd both broken up from their other halves, Samia's heartbroken husband of five years, Matt, 35 - with whom she has a 15-month-old daughter Freya - was clearly angry with his estranged wife.

‘They have to live with what they've done,' he says. ‘We've got a child together and I'm trying to get on with my life.'

Samia only announced her split from Matt in January and a pal tells Now: ‘It was a huge shock to the whole family that she went public with her new romance so quickly.

'But she and Will knew 
it was already being whispered about so it was only a matter of time before it came 
out. They're completely in love but everyone's worried that she's moving too fast.'

Meanwhile Will's wife of seven years, Samantha, who's mum to his two young children, refused 
to comment on his relationship with Samia.

‘Of course she's gutted - but her priority is their kids,' says an insider. ‘It's very 
sad, but they announced their split before Christmas and they're both determined to 
make it as amicable as possible.'
