Katherine Jenkins and Gethin Jones met when he was a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing

Opera singer Katherine Jenkins and her TV personality boyfriend Gethin Jones are to marry.

Former Blue Peter presenter Gethin, who met Katherine, 30, on Strictly Come Dancing three years ago, proposed last month and friends say the Welsh couple will exchange vows in 2012.

'Katherine is so happy and can't wait to start planning her wedding which will be next year,' a close source tells The Mail.

'They are both very happy and in love and their family and friends are equally delighted for them.

'They are such a well-suited couple - a perfect match.'   

Katherine and Gethin, 32, moved into a £4.7m house in Richmond, South-West London, last year, prompting rumours they were ready to take their relationship to the next step.

'Well hello! Diolch yn fawr/Thank you for ALL your messages..' Gethin, 32, Tweeted last night.

'Lovely reading them all... (raising a glass) CHEERS!'
