Anne Hathaway has been cast as Catwoman Selina Kyle in the new Batman film - The Dark Knight Rises.

Anne will join Christian Bale who plays Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Warner Bros production.

'I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story,' says director Christopher Nolan.

Inception star Tom Hardy will play villain Bane.

Meanwhile, Anne, who starred as wannabe hack Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada is said to be making an appearance in a forthcoming episode of Glee.

The Dark Knight Rises is due for release 20 July 2012.
