Danny Baker has always been adamant he'll beat cancer

TV and radio star Danny Baker is winning his battle with cancer and confident of a full recovery.

Since he revealed he had the illness in November, the Radio 5 Live host has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

'He has just started radiotherapy,' says a spokesman for Danny, 53.

'He is feeling unusual but pretty good.

'His doctors are really pleased with him and his treatment is going very well indeed.

'He is generally full of beans.'

Danny, 53, hopes to be back in 'a couple of months' to present his weekend show - The

Danny Baker Show
- as well as a daily radio slot on
BBC London.

'I found him in tremendous spirits,' says good friend and broadcaster Danny Kelly.

'Surrounded by a shambles of books, iPods and newspapers, he was exactly like his normal self - except that a tube linked his right arm to a bag of very powerful chemicals.

'And he was wearing his pyjamas.'

Popular Danny, whose manager has not revealed what kind of cancer he has, isn't short of support through his battle.

'The nurses and doctors remark on his stoicism and on the stellar quality of some of his visitors; not "showbiz chums" but real friends,' Danny Kelly tells the Daily Mirror.

'Chris Evans has been. And Peter Kay.

'The phone rings and it's Elton John.'
