Prince William's fiancée Kate Middleton mingles with royals at exclusive event

The Queen has accepted Kate Middleton into her family

Kate Middleton attended an official pre-Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace yesterday with fiancé Prince William. 

The annual dinner is the Queen's final party of the year before she heads off for her festive break at Sandringham. 

It is thought to have been the first time Kate, 28, has had lunch with the entire royal family at the palace as all of Her Majesty's children and grandchildren were at the event.

'It's a momentous day for her,' author Judy Wade tells People.

'She
must have met more than 40 members of the royal family and that must
have been an ordeal for her to meet so many family members.'

Prince William, 28, proposed to Kate in Kenya with Diana, Princess Of Wales' sapphire engagement ring.

They will get married on 29 April 2011.
