Age difference is too much for the couple

Taylor Swift wants a grown-up relationship

Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal have split.

The country-pop singer, 21, caught the eye of Hollywood actor Jake, 30, in October and they spent a cosy Thanksgiving together in Brooklyn, New York, in December.

But Jake is reported to have decided it wasn't working out.

'He said he wasn't feeling it anymore and was uncomfortable with all the attention they got,' says an insider.

Taylor is said to be devastated as she was ready for a more mature romance.

'I used to think there was some strategy - that if you didn't text a guy back for 20 minutes that would make you more attractive to him,' she admits.

'What you don't realise at 17 is that you have no idea what you'll know in two hours or two years or 20 years.

'Where I am at this point is that I have no idea about any kind of strategy - or how to play any kind of game - and I like it better that way.'

In 2008, after teen idol Joe Jonas dumped her in a 27-second phone call, Taylor wrote about him in a song - Forever & Always.

Taylor has since dated Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner and singer John Mayer, said to be the subject of her scathing song Dear John on her latest album.
