Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are ready to commit

Jessica Simpson's ex-husband Nick Lachey is to get married again.

The singer proposed to his MTV presenter girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo on Thursday near a beach in California.

'Hey all, if anyone's heard the rumors of my engagement, they are
absolutely true!' Nick, 36, announced on Twitter yesterday.

'Vanessa and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for all the
love.'

Nick and Vanessa, 29, have been dating since 2006. 

'We're excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look
forward to a wonderful future together,' reads a joint statement to People.

Nick's divorce from Jessica, 30, was finalised in 2006.

She is now dating American footballer Eric Johnson.
