Office star Martin Freeman wins role of Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit

Comedy star a big favourite with diretor Peter Jackson

Martin Freeman will play Bilbo Baggins

Actor Martin Freeman will play Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit.

Lord Of The Rings direct Peter Jackson is sure he's found the right man for the job in the two-part prequel.

There has 'only ever been one Bilbo Baggins for us' he's annnounced in a statement.

Martin, 39, is best known for his role as Tim Canterbury alongside Ricky Gervais in The Office.

The Hobbit was due to be made in New Zealand but the production team is currently considering other locations, including the UK.
