Chris Evans has apologised to Chris Moyles after saying he should quit Radio 1.

Last week, the Radio 2 DJ said it wouldn't be appropriate for the 36-year-old to stay on after he launched into a rant live on air in September about not having been paid for weeks.

'It's time for him to leave,' said Chris Evans, 44.

'He has got to go somewhere else. Why do you think you have the right to hijack a BBC microphone to make that complaint?'

But now Chris Evans has made a U-turn.

'I do regret saying what I did,' he tells the Daily Star.

'We work for the same team. We are not rivals.'

Chris Moyles has been linked to a move to London station Capital FM when it goes nationwide in January.

He has been hosting the Radio 1 breakfast show since 2004 and signed a new deal with the BBC In July.
