Coleen Rooney has received a public apology from prostitute Jennifer Thompson's parents.

The privately-educated 21-year-old claims Manchester United star Wayne, 24, paid her for sex while Coleen was pregnant.

'This may sound somewhat hollow but my wife and I would never condone what has or may have happened,' Hamish Thompson says in a statement.

'We had absolutely no idea about any of the allegations and claims that have been made.

'The last few days have been extremely trying for us and our family. Jennifer is our daughter and we love her and we will deal with this matter as a family, not via the media.'

Coleen, 24, who was Wayne's childhood sweetheart, married him in June 2008 and gave birth to son Kai on 2 November last year.

Wayne has previously admitted he paid prostitutes for sex in 2002 when he and Coleen were first dating.

'Foolish as it now seems I did on occasions visit massage parlours and ­prostitutes. I now regret it deeply and hope people may understand that it was the sort of mistake you make when you are young and stupid,' he confessed.

'It was at a time when I was very young and ­immature.'

It is believed Coleen and Wayne, 24, are currently in crisis talks at their Cheshire mansion about the claims and the future of their marriage.

A second prostitute, Helen Wood, is also alleged to have joined Jennifer for a threesome with Wayne.
