The xx have won this year's Mercury Music Prize.
The London-based trio scooped the £20,000 cheque for their debut album xx.
'I don't know what we were expecting but we weren't expecting this,' says frontman Oliver Sim.
'Thank
you so much. We've had the most incredible year and it has just felt
like every day we've just woken up to something incredible we just
weren't expecting.'
The xx beat 11 other nominees, including Corinne Bailey Rae, Dizzee Rascal and Paul Weller, for the prestigious award.
Guests at the do at London's Grosvenor House Hotel included Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Jools Holland.
The Mercury Music Prize is open to UK and Irish acts that have released albums over the past year and the winner gets £20,000.
