Yvonne Keating can't forgive Ronan for his betrayal

We reckon Ronan Keating missed a trick by not locking his wife Yvonne in a deserted Irish barn and repeatedly playing Boyzone's version of Baby Can I Hold You until she agreed to take him back.

Because his unimaginative apologies and pleading for her to forgive him have spectacularly failed and poor Yvonne, 36, has decided to give him the heave-ho - permanently.

Ronan, 33, who's been trying since May to save his 12-year marriage after admitting to a seven-month affair with Boyzone backing dancer Francine Cornell,  26, is now admitting to friends that it's over for good.

‘Neither of them wanted things to end this way,' says an insider, ‘but Yvonne simply can't forgive and forget.

‘The betrayal goes much deeper than Ronan just sleeping with someone else.

'He and Francine talked about getting married and starting a new life together.

'He broke Yvonne's heart and while they've both worked hard at trying to fix things it's just been an impossible task.'

Friends of the couple say they'll continue to see each other on a regular basis for the sake of their children - Jack, 11, Missy, nine, and Ali, five - once Ronan returns from Sydney.

He's currently filming the Australian X Factor down under.

The couple last week asked their publicist to issue a statement reiterating that the separation they'd announced in May still stands.

It read: ‘With great sadness Ronan and Yvonne Keating today announce their separation.

'The separation is amicable and they will continue to work together in order to provide the best for their children.

'The family ask for privacy at this difficult time.'

Our insider adds: ‘Yvonne's admitted she'll never be able to truly forgive him and Ronan's sick of trying to fix things only to be met with a brick wall.

'He was a fool and he's paying the price.'
