Max Clifford: Wayne Rooney could be a mass murderer so long as he's scoring goals

Max Clifford says it's up Coleen Rooney to decide whether her marriage to Wayne can still work after this weekend's shock tabloid reports.

It's alleged Wayne paid £1,000-a-night prostitute Jennifer Thompson for sex while Coleen was pregnant.

'The poor girl should not have to suffer this,' says Max. 'It will take its toll on her health. I feel desperately sorry for Coleen.'

But Max says Wayne's football fans won't give a damn about anything the striker does in his private life.

'Nobody in football gives a monkey's as long as he's winning on the pitch,' he tells Metro.

'He could be a mass murderer as long as he's scoring goals.'

Coleen, who was Wayne's childhood sweetheart, married him in June 2008 and gave birth to the couple's son Kai on 2 November last year.

Wayne, 24, has previously admitted he paid prostitutes for sex in 2002 when he and Coleen were first dating.
