Cheryl Cole and Ashley Cole's marriage will be finally over

Cheryl Cole's decree nisi was granted at the High Court yesterday.

Simon Cowell believes Cheryl is now 'in a better place' but Louis Walsh admits he never thought the Girls Aloud star would split from her husband.

'I wish her all the best but honestly I never thought they would break up,' says Louis.

'I still thought she might have taken him back.'

Cheryl, 27, has 6 weeks as a 'cooling off period' before her divorce from Ashley, 29, becomes absolute.

Louis wants Cheryl to have a smile on face when she returns to The X Factor and to choose whichever road is right for her.

'I'm happy for her if she's happy,' he tells The Sun, 'and I can't wait for the live shows to start. She always gives it 100 per cent.

'She's so vibrant and I hope she's happy, I really do.'

It's believed the Coles will split their assets 50-50, including their mansion in Surrey, but pet boxer dogs Buster and Coco will stay with Cheryl.
