Cheryl and Ashley Cole divorce today

Decree nisi heard at High Court at 10am

Cheryl Cole and Ashley Cole's marriage will be finally over

Cheryl Cole will be almost free of love rat Ashley today as their divorce is processed by the High Court.

Cheryl filed for divorce in May citing unreasonable behabiour but the process was delayed when she fell ill with malaria and do not request the degree nisi.

The case, logged with their initials CAC v AC to avoid publicity, wil now be heard at 10am by judge Christopher Simmonds. 

The couple, who started dating in September 2004 and married in July 2006, then have 6 weeks as a 'cooling-off period' before the decree absolute is granted.

'Cheryl just wants to move on with her life,' says a pal. 'The last thing she expected was to be a divorcee at 27.'

It's believed the Coles will split their assets 50-50, including their mansion in Surrey, but pet boxer dogs Buster and Coco will stay with Cheryl.

The last time she and Ashley, 29, were in touch was a few weeks ago, shortly after she flew to the US.

But after Ashley bombarded her with questions about her relationship with Derek Hough, Cheryl cut off communication.

‘He'd love to meet up with Cheryl again,' an insider tells Now.

‘A few weeks ago, referring to women he's dated, he said there's a lot of rubbish out there and he realises he's lost a good thing.'

'He's dating, but he's not happy - everyone can see that - but he accepts it's his fault.

'He even says, and has told Cheryl, he'll never get married again unless it's her.'
