Simon Cowell says he's happy if Cheryl Cole's happy

Simon Cowell has denied claims that he ordered dancer Derek Hough to break up with Cheryl Cole.

The TV mogul is said to have invited Derek to dinner at his London mansion while Cheryl was recovering from malaria and told him he should back off.

‘Simon told Derek, "It's nothing personal, I just don't think Cheryl should be spending so much time with you so soon after her marriage break-up,"' a source alleges in The Daily Mirror.

‘Simon didn't want to be mean to him, but he just wanted to make sure he did everything in his power to safeguard her happiness and career.'

Simon has been a close friend to Cheryl since she was picked
to replace Sharon Osbourne as a judge on The X Factor in 2008 and has supported her following her painful split from footballer Ashley Cole. 

However, a spokesman for Simon, 50, says Simon is happy so long as Cheryl is too.

‘There is absolutely no way Simon would be advising her and him about her private life,' says the spokesman.

'He was worried about her health and is very relieved she seems to be well again.'
