Lee Ryan splits with fiancée Samantha Miller and assault charge dropped

Sam withdraws statement against former Blue star

Lee Ryan and former fiancée Samantha Miller have split up.

The Blue singer was charged with assault after allegedly striking Sam, 25 - the mother of his 2-year-old son Rayn - as they drove through the West End on 18 August.

Lee strenuosly denied the allegation and charges have now been dropped.

The 27-year-old, who lives in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, appeared at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court today and the charge was officially withdrawn.

'I have this morning been handed a withdrawal statement dated 25 August, signed by Samantha Miller,' said prosecutor Laura Tams.

'Having taken further instructions there is no longer a realistic prospect of conviction.'

Lee is very relieved at the outcome.

'He has always maintained his innocence,' says his publicist Simon Jones, 'but is sad that such a case had to take place.'
